Dive bar? Sure. A dive bar with excellent food, yeah buddy. I live within walking distance of this local establishment and it changed ownership recently and the new owner knows what he is doing. The wings are fantastic, the beer selection is great, and their what I call "thanksgiving dinner" is always a hit. The thanksgiving dinner is fresh turkey, stuffing, and veggies. Keep up the great work everyone.

Really like this place. Part bar. Part bar food. Part restaurant. Add em up and no matter what comes 1st it's all good food. Neighborhood fixture. Lots of character.

Drinks are incredible. The bartenders started carrying Reyka vodka per my suggestion. They're always down to make your experience the best. The service, kindness, and consideration of the bartenders & waitresses is incredible. The food is phenomenal (high quality & specials are delish!) and I cannot speak more highly of Coral & Bryan are the best bartenders who make "breakfast shots." We feel at home here. Cannot recommend it enough if you want to experiment delicious food & amazing drinks. Highly recommend.

Place was great last weekend. New ownership with a whole fresh new vibe in the place. Looking forward to going back.

I am so happy that Amster's has been able to ride out the storm of COVID- this place is an institution and we love it! We dined here tonight and ordered mostly off the special menu, which was absolutely amazing. We started with Blackened shrimp with julienne veggies and a sambuca cream sauce- BIG shrimp and that sauce was to die for. We had the portobello tower also which was super flavorful and piled high with roasted vegetables and fresh mozzarella. The main course was fish and chips, super crunchy and flavorful, with a very yummy homemade tartar sauce, and chicken breast topped with eggplant, roasted red peppers, mozzarella and prosciutto. This food was SO FLAVORFUL and well executed, I would have thought I was dining in a place with dishes double the price. You get SERIOUS value for your money here, and the people who run it are so nice on top of it all. A real staple for Waldwick, and we're happy to see it alive and well!

4.5 stars... I love this place! Wonderful service, unbeatable prices, and great quality. It's a historic pub that's been around since 1927! Their menu (both food and drinks) are ultra simple and short so don't expect craft beers or a massive pub menu here. Don't let that deter you though. Their fries are the best I've ever had, battered and ultra crispy. Their burgers are as simple as they get (a Ron Swanson burger if you've ever seen one) but are so perfectly cooked and fresh that they beat nearly any fancy expensive burger you'll find elsewhere. Their french dip sandwiches are perfect. Plenty of meat, served on garlic bread with the best au jus. I've also ordered non pub food specials like a lamb shank and the quality and portion was impressive. I can't wait for COVID to be over so I can start strolling in through the front door and become a regular. In the meantime, coming in through the back and eating in their dining room (or patio during warm weather) will do just fine. I really wished they could add a dart board here but I understand there really isn't a good place to fit one in. Otherwise it has everything I could want from a low key neighborhood pub.

Came to Amster's for the first time tonight, wish I would've tried this place sooner...LOVED IT!! Food was delicious and the service was great! We had the pepper jack burger and the chicken parm. Nice place with outdoor seating and the Yankees game playing on the large flat screen TV!
